Paediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit
The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Lady Ridgway Hospital for children is a specialized 16-bed intensive care unit which provide peri-operative intensive care for children with acquired and congenital heart disease and thoracic disorders. Its s the only dedicated Paediatric Cardiac Intensive care unit in Sri-Lanka and has an approximate annual admission rate of more than 800 patients.
Our team includes Paediatric Intensivists, Neonatologists, critical care trained doctors and nurses and together with other specialty team members, provide multi-disciplinary around-the-clock 24/7-hour care.

Provide multi-disciplinary around-the-clock 24/7-hour ICU care for the little children who had undergone cardiac interventions and cardiothoracic surgeries.
The unit has been recognized and approved by the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine of Sri Lanka for training of registrars and senior registrars in paediatric cardiothoracic surgery and has been involved in training senior registrars for the past two years.
