At present, there are 2 child psychiatry units at Lady Ridgeway Hospital; the health ministry unit and the university psychiatry unit. These have in-patient facilities, day patient services and out-patient clinics which are conducted by a multidisciplinary team including Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, Postgraduate Trainees in Psychiatry, Medical Officers, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychiatric Social Workers and Nursing Officers.

Children with Autism are taken cared of while providing care for children with many other emotional and behavioural problems and developmental disorders. The units also provide these children and families a family focused, system-based management with holistic approach in a naturalistic environment. Further, we manage patients with legal problems along with the National child protection authority, social service department and probationary and childcare officers and conduct case conferences with a view to develop an individualized service plan. We provide court reports and medico legal assessments when requested.

In addition, Child and Adolescent psychiatry services conduct three parent training programs monthly. Autism parent training is on every second Tuesday, good parenting training on every first Friday and dyslexia parent training on every second Wednesday of the month.
