Effective communication is essential to bring about patient centered care. concept of biopsychosocial
communication model clearly suggests that treating a patient is not only the understanding and
providing medicines for a patient’s medical condition, but also to consider their psychosocial factors as
well.
Communication is supposed to be effective when the sender and the receiver become clear and
mutually understanding on the information that is being exchanged. Further Sound communication
reduces the chances for misunderstandings, damaging relationships, breaking trust, and increasing
anger and hostility; which in turn improve the motivation, efficiency of the employees and patient
satisfaction and safety. Despite its importance, it is the mostly neglected aspects in hospitals.
When consider the children’s health care, any sick child has to be managed with the information
provided by the parents or the guardians. Unlike adult patients, the children are unable to provide
necessary information and give consent on their management.
In the study healthcare provider defined as any person healthcare worker who is involved in patient
management at the ward 02 (consultant to minor employee) and indoor pharmacy of LRH.
Further in the study farther, mother of a child or grandparents who are living with the child will be
considered as guardians for the assessment.
It was observed that the public experience of current communication between provider and guardian at
the hospitals does not meet the expected level. To address this, the project to improve provider

guidance and support.
